Blog Post 26.
Some friends are keepers for life. For me, as for most people, these friends are few and far between. One such human in my life (she has been part of it for some time) is Madi Baca. She is the strangest young bud I know but I like the cut of her jib and she brings a great deal of spunk to my life.
Distance and moments have interjected themselves into our shared space, yet we have built out that shared space to accommodate tumult and time. We have both done a great deal of evolving since the days of khaki skirts and polo shirts and so, too, has our friendship.
Yesterday was my first day back in the USA and it was full of warm feelings. Madi came over just as soon as she could and it felt as though no time had passed since we last hung out. She is sick with a head cold and I’m battling jet-lag so we hip youngsters went to bed at 10:30pm after an evening of familial enjoyment. I think of the years she has survived my personality and am forced to laud and appreciate her strength of character, patience and companionship- no matter the distance.
She probably gave me her head cold. Oh, to be close enough to communicate a disease.

communicable diseases are the basis of the strongest friendships.
